  • Provide monthly, quarterly or biannual figures
  • Assist with forecasting and cashflow
  • Keep all your compliance information up-to-date
  • Hold regular meetings to consult and provide recommendations

This personal and thorough approach allows us to provide a high-quality service that assists you in managing your company’s finances and satisfy management, the government, creditors and other interested parties, that the business has been well conducted.

Accounting

Every business requires periodic accounts for submission to Companies House and/or HMRC. James and Uzzell can help you collect and collate all the relevant data and prepare your accounts for you in the required format, ensuring that all deadlines are met in good time.

Statutory Audits

A statutory audit is an independent assessment of the financial accounts of a company or institution. Not all companies or organisations are required to conduct statutory audits. Typically, small companies are exempt unless they are charities or part of a wider organisation. To be exempt from audit, a small company must meet two out of three of the following criteria for two consecutive years (or its first year for new companies):

  • Turnover should not be more than £10.2m
  • The balance sheet total should not be more than £5.1m
  • The average number of employees should not be more than 50

Our role as auditors is to report on whether the financial statements issued by an organisation are ‘true and fair’, and meet all relevant guidelines or legal requirements. We work hard to develop a deep understanding of each and every business we work with to provide added value to our auditing process and provide proactive advice that goes beyond the basic requirements, enabling companies to guard against risk and plan for the future.

Specialist Audits

Some organisations, whatever their size, are subject to specialist audits in order to comply with regulations. Some businesses that require specialist audits include:

  • Charities and not for profit organisations
  • Academy schools
  • Service charge companies
  • Pension schemes
  • Solicitors
  • FCA regulated businesses
  • Insurance brokers
  • Grant projects

Each sector has unique auditing requirements and regulations to meet. James and Uzzell are well versed in providing specialist audits for all sorts of different sectors.

Bookkeeping

Bookkeeping is essentially the efficient and comprehensive keeping of records and recording day-to-day financial information. However, bookkeeping can be a daunting and time-consuming task.

While we encourage our clients to use digital systems, especially with the introduction of HMRC’s Making Tax Digital Initiative, James and Uzzell provide a bookkeeping service to relieve some pressure and allow you to concentrate on the day-to-day running of your business.

The world has moved into the cloud-based accounting systems providing easier interaction of information between our clients and ourselves.

We will help you choose, implement and operate the most appropriate accounting software and systems for your needs and circumstances.

We use, on a daily basis, packages such as Quickbooks, SAGE and Xero together with other well-known packages but also use bespoke packages subject to our client’s needs.
